Dialogue With Armed Bandits Has Been A Usable Option – Gov Yari

The Governor of Zamfara State Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has portrayed the security dialogue initiated by the state government as a viable option.

He stated that the state has not witnessed armed bandit attacks in the last five months since the dialogue begun.

Governor Yari made the assertion during the distribution of relief material to victims of the armed bandit attacks in the state by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons,

The governor explained that activities of armed bandits and cattle rustlers had negative economic impact on the resources of the state as it has spent N13 billion on security in the last six years, thus necessitating the dialogue option was adopted.

Presenting the relief materials, the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Hajiya Saadiya Umar Farouk, said the ultimate goal of her commission was to ensure that encampment was brought to an end.

“We will, therefore, strive hard to see that the displaced persons are either returned home or resettled and actively integrated into to their communities in safe and dignity and with unimpeded access to basic social amenities,” she added.

The relief material which includes, building materials,  household items and food items, building worth several millions of Naira were distributed to the victims.
