Diamond Bank Founder Pascal Dozie Passes Away At 85
The founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank and former MTN Nigeria chairman, Pascal Gabriel Dozie, has died at the age of 85.
Family sources revealed that Dozie passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, just a day before his 86th birthday.
He had reportedly been battling an age-related illness before his death.
Dozie was widely known for establishing Diamond Bank, one of Nigeria’s most innovative banks before it merged with Access Bank.
He also served as chairman of the bank until he handed over to his son, Uzoma Dozie.
He was a founding partner of the African Capital Alliance, a leading private equity firm focused on investing in West Africa.
Dozie was also a recipient of Nigeria’s national honour, Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).
