Dignitaries from across Nigeria gathered in the ancient city of Ibadan on Friday to witness the crowning of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The grand ceremony took place at the Labosinde compound, a family traditionally entrusted with crowning any Olubadan.
Notable attendees included former Oyo State Governor Rashidi Ladoja, the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar, and former Senate Leader Teslim Folarin, among others
Osun Defender recalls that the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, had commissioned the newly built ultra-modern palace.
The palace, which has been under construction for many years, was just concluded and Oba Olakulehin is set to be the first king to occupy the edifice.
The new palace said to be constructed and built in the pattern and standard of Buckingham Palace was estimated at N800 million.
Makinde applauded late Governor Ajimobi for his bold initiative in actualising the palace project and Chief Bayo Oyero for their impacts on the project.
