A dismissed Nigerian Naval officer has been arrested by the Police in Lagos State for allegedly impersonating a serving military officer and assaulting residents.
The police reportedly arrested the unnamed suspect while he and his boys were beating a hotel worker.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, as quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Lagos, said, “The job was contracted to him by one of the hotel’s customers who had refused to stop smoking in a ‘no smoking’ area of the hotel.
“He charges N20,000 to bring his boys to beat up anybody for his clients.”
He said the suspect was dismissed 24 years ago from the Nigeria Navy but continued to parade himself as a serving officer.
“The suspect has been dismissed since 2000, but still parades himself as a naval officer,’’ Hundeyin said.
He noted that the suspect would soon be arraigned.
