The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife Hafsat, and six others are scheduled to appear before a Kano State High Court on Thursday.

They face charges related to alleged bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds amounting to billions of naira.

The former governor will also be arraigned for allegedly collecting $200,000 from a contractor.

In a charge sheet filed before the Kano high court, the state government said the offence contravened Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Commission Commission Law 2008.

The Kano State Government initiated the suit before Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu.

The state government also accused Ganduje of collecting $210,000 kickback from “people and entities seeking or holding the execution of Kano State Government contract and or project for the remodelling of Kantin Kwari textile market as a bribe through one of the contractors (agent)”.

The court had earlier granted permission on June 5 to serve the respondents through substituted means.

The respondents in the case include Abdullahi Ganduje (1st respondent), his wife Hafsat (2nd respondent), Abubakar Bawuro (3rd respondent), Umar Abdullahi Umar (4th respondent), Jibrilla Muhammad (5th respondent), Lamash Properties Limited (6th respondent), Safari Textiles Ltd (7th respondent), and Lesage General Enterprises (8th respondent).

At the previous court session, only Nuraini Jimoh (SAN) represented the sixth respondent, Lamash Properties Limited. The other respondents, including Ganduje, were not represented.

Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu has scheduled the hearing for July 11.
