Doris Ogala Demands ₦1bn From Pastor Chris Okafor Over Alleged Breach of Marriage Promise
Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has formally accused Lagos‑based cleric Pastor Chris Okafor of breaking a long‑standing promise to marry her and is seeking ₦1 billion in damages for emotional, reputational and psychological harm.
Ogala, who said she first became close to the founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry in 2017, claims the relationship grew from spiritual counsel into a personal bond cemented by repeated assurances of future marriage.
In a demand letter issued by her lawyers, Synergy Law Partners, Ogala’s legal team insisted the pastor’s promise went beyond mere words, pointing to introductions to his family, joint appearances at events and documentary evidence, including photos, videos, WhatsApp chats and banking records, as proof that she had a legitimate expectation of marriage.
Ogala also alleges that she suffered significant financial loss, claiming she once transferred ₦45 million to Okafor and granted him access to her finances based on the relationship and assurances of marital commitment.
Her lawyers said the pastor’s recent marriage to another woman announced publicly while her own claims were still unfolding, amounted to a repudiation of his promise and caused her severe emotional distress and damage to her public reputation.
The letter also claims Ogala has faced online harassment and victim‑shaming, and accuses Okafor of responsibility for alleged unauthorised circulation of private photographs, an allegation to which the cleric has not publicly responded.
Ogala’s legal team has given Pastor Okafor 21 days to pay the ₦1 billion or face legal action in a court of competent jurisdiction.
In response to the allegations, Pastor Chris Okafor’s newly wedded wife has publicly defended their union.
In a viral pre‑wedding video, she described their meeting as “divinely orchestrated” and dismissed suggestions that the relationship was the result of anything other than God’s plan.
She spoke emotionally about their future together, calling Okafor “very intentional” and expressing her excitement about starting a family and carrying his children, comments that have sparked widespread reactions across social media.
