• Kidnap Threat Allegation False – Alumni
The Caretaker Chairperson of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Students Union Government (SUG), Ajoke Olaniyi, has alleged that some Alumni of the institution threatened to kidnap her.
Ajoke who posted in one of the students WhatsApp group’ ‘OSPOLY Of Our Dream’, specifically said one Samuel Oyewole, threatened her during the National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN) Convention.
In a video which is now circulating within the social media space, Oyewole and some persons were seen confronting the OSPOLY SUG Caretaker Chairperson and asking “What is your post? Call the Rector. Call the DSA.”, While Ajoke responded that “I am the OSPOLY SUG Chairperson”.
During an interview with Osun Defender correspondent, Ajoke noted that she is scared, calling on authorities to wade in.
Explaining what transpired, Olaniyi said she was commissioned by the leadership of NFSAN to present three stakeholders who were to serve as delegates from OSPOLY which she did.
She added that while the NFSAN convention was ongoing, the Convention Planning Committee (CPC) alerted her that Oyewole Samuel, a ‘male’ alumnus of OSPOLY had also submitted two names to serve as delegates and she disagreed, responding that “Gbogo is a male. He does not have business whatsoever with a female Students’ Association.”

The SUG caretaker chairperson further noted that after she refuted the delegate that Oyewole nominated, some Alumni of OSPOLY, insulted her and and threatened to kidnap her.
“I am afraid, because Gbogo said shebi (sic) I will enter Iree? That I will see. If anything happens to me. They are solely responsible for it.” She added.
However, while responding to Olaniyi’s threat allegation, former Public Relations Officer of the National Association Of Nigerian Students NANS Zone D, Peter Bamigboye, debunked the claim that the OSPOLY Caretaker Chairperson was threatened.
Explaining how things went, Bamigboye, said, “myself and some people played a pivotal role in securing the hall that was used for the NFSAN convention. When we got the hall, in a bid to secure the facility, we were instructed to monitor the event that would hold in the hall, in order for everything to go smoothly and that was why I was at the event.
“What happened was only a misunderstanding. Nobody was threatened.”, he noted.
In an interview with the medium, a representative of the NFSAN who does not want her name in print, confirmed that delegates from OSPOLY were switched.
