Reactions As SUBEB Chairman’s Aide Boasts Adeleke Built 200 Classrooms, Fails to Name One
Reactions have trailed a claim by Mr. Abiodun Alesinloye, Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board [SUBEB], Mr. Ibukun Fadipe, that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration has completed over 200 new classrooms across the state.
Alesinloye made the claim on Friday while appearing on Western Spring Television’s Morning Spring programme.
According to the SUBEB chairman’s aide, the current administration has carried out classroom construction projects in every local government area in the state.
“I can tell you by fact that within this time, we have built new classrooms not in hundreds. We have built more than 200 new classrooms in every local government,” he said.
He cited an example from his own local government in Ilesa, saying, “There is a particular school in Ilaje, Ilesa, that had been left dilapidated. The NSCDC was using it as a base, and boys were smoking there. When we got there, we made sure we brought the school back.”
However, a mild drama ensued when the hosts asked Alesinloye to name five of the schools where the new classrooms were built but he was unable to do so.
When pressed by one of the hosts, Alesinloye responded, “If I want to mention names, I will keep mentioning names. There is no local government that we have not constructed classrooms in Osun State,” but he did not name any school.
After a video clip of the programme circulated on Facebook, netizens called out the Accord Party member for failing to name five of the 200 schools where the newly built classrooms were supposedly located.
