A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, State of Osun has remanded a driver and five sales representatives for allegedly stealing goods worth N3.6 million from one Oreofe Business venture.
The accused persons are Saheed Opeyemi (30), Abdul Wahab Abioye (34), Odunniyi Ayomide (21), Ogundeji Williams (35), Afolabi Taiwo (20) and Blessing John (29).
Two other persons who allegedly bought the goods from the above mentioned accused persons, Simiat Oladepo (61) and Sade Tajudeen (36) were also arraigned before the court.
The six accused persons were alleged to have conspired to steal cosmetics valued N3,636,500, from the company which belongs to one Ojedapo Sunday Oluwaseyi.
The Police Prosecutor, Adegoke Taiwo, told the court that the accused persons committed the alleged offence between April and October 2018 at Ore-Ofe Enterprises Ventures, Bishop Street, Osogbo.
He alleged that the accused stole 25 cartons of Fumbat 5, cartons of skineal tube, 5 cartons of Fevicide tube, 15 dozens of mega with kit, 25 cartons of Beka Relaxer, 20 cartons of Ebony Relaxer, 5 cartons of passion jelly and 15 cartons of Ozone Relaxer.
Taiwo also alleged that the 7th and 8th accused persons obtained the stolen items unlawfully and thereby committed an offence contrary to the law.
The accused persons however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and their Counsels, Barrister Funsho Muritala and Barrister Adeoye, urged the court to grant their clients bail in the most liberal term.
However in his ruling, Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, only granted the 7th and 8th accused persons bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and ordered that the 1st to 6th accused persons be remanded in Ilesa prison custody.
He thereby adjourned the case till December 12 for hearing.
