Dry Season Elevates Sachet Water Business In Ile Ife

There is a noticeable increase in the number of sachet water hawkers in Ile Ife as the demand for cold water increases because of the dry season.
The hawkers and dealers of the commodity, popularly called ‘Pure Water’ are rejoicing on the high patronage.
The hawkers, mainly mothers and school- age children, have become many in the ancient city as they move hopefully to sell their products from street to street.
In an interview with Miss Yetunde Adelani who hawks the commodity in the ancient city, maintained that the dry season has elevated patronage and brought her more income.
She said the harmattan has made the demand for cold water high.
Another dealer of the commodity, who simply identified herself as Oluwaseun, confirmed that there is high demand for sachet water.
“My generator is always on and we always have cold water and many hawkers come here to buy due to the dry season” She said.
An attendant in a pure water factory in the city, Mr Favour Olaoye, said that “’there is very high patronage for our products now.
“It is expected because the weather is very hot so both the young and old will need cold water now to survive.”
Checks by our correspondent however indicated relative stability in the price per bag which is between N150 – N 170 per bag with no increase or reduction in the last one month.
