The Department of State Services has debunked reports that its operatives invaded the Abuja headquarters of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
Some reports on Monday had indicated that operatives of DSS invaded CBN as part of the bid to arrest Godwin Emefiele, the Governor over alleged involvement in terrorism financing.
According to report, the operatives cordoned off the office of Emefiele.
But in a short statement by its spokesperson, Peter Afunaya, the DSS described reports that its operatives invaded CBN as fake news.
In the short statement, titled CBN, NOT INVADED BY DSS, the secret police said, “The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the false news making the round that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor, today 16/1/23. This is fake news and quite misleading.”
