DSS, EFCC To Fuel Vehicles With N2bn

The Department of State Services and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission are to spend the sum of N2bn on fueling their operational vehicles in 2025, according to the proposed appropriation bill.

It would be recalled that the a N47.90trn budget was presented by President Bola Tinubu, on December 18, to the National Assembly, naming it the “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace and Rebuilding Prosperity.”

In the proposed budget, a significant N4.91tn was earmarked for defence and security, emphasising the administration’s commitment to tackling the nation’s security concerns.

An in-depth analysis of the appropriation bill reveals that the EFCC has allocated N808.7m solely for fueling its vehicles, while another N462m is earmarked for refreshments and meals for the year.

Similarly, the DSS budgeted N1.37bn for vehicle fueling, and the sum of N1.4m for procuring tactical counter-terrorism equipment.

Also, the sum of N1.4bn was proposed for arms and ammunition procurement, and N1.1bn for advanced cybersecurity tools.

In a broader context, the DSS, alongside other agencies under the Office of the National Security Adviser, has allocated N960bn in 2025 for maintaining the nation’s defence aircraft and procuring security equipment across various sectors, further reflecting the administration’s focus on fortifying national security.
