Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has suffered another heartbreaking loss, just two months after the death of his father.
The Chippa United FC star announced the passing of his mother on social media, describing 2025 as the “worst year” of his life.
In a post shared on his official X account (formerly Twitter), on Wednesday the 28-year-old wrote, “A very, very crazy world indeed. RIP mom, worst year of my life already.”

This tragedy comes on the heels of his father’s death on November 15, 2024, two days before the Super Eagles’ final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda in Uyo.
The Eagles lost that game 2-1 to the Amavubi.
Amidst this challenging period, Nwabali is being supported by his family, friends, and teammates.
The football community has also extended heartfelt condolences to the goalkeeper.
