The Executive Secretary of Ede East Local Council Development Area, Sekona, State of Osun, Honourable Fatoki Rafiu has assured the people of the council, of his administration’s commitment in empowering the people as a way of eradicating poverty.
According to a statement by the Information Officer of the council, Hammed Oyeniyi, Fatoki gave the assurance while declaring open a capacity building workshop, tagged “Youth And Women Empowerment Development Skill Acquisition Programme” organised by the United Nation For Development Programme (UNDP) and Osun State Sustainable Human Development Fund in collaboration with National Orientation Agency (NOA) and Ede East LCDA held at Sekona.
He said, such workshops where different skill acquisition would be learnt is very important at this period when many home were being confronted with economic challenges and poverty.
Fatoki commended the Governor, State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for allowing the state government to partner with UNDP for such a laudable programme.
He then advised the participants to be serious with the workshop and put into practice whatever they were taught for them to be able to stand on their feet and be self reliance.
He also promised on behalf of the council to assist the participants financially for them to be able to establish on their own.
In her address, the Focal Officer of the UNDP in the State, Mrs. D.O. Martins thanked the Executive Secretary for the collaboration and the support in making the workshop a reality, urging the participants to be more to be focused with a view to getting tools for sustainable development.
In the entourage of the Executive Secretary were, Comrade Abiodun Gboyega Ojo, the Council Manager; members of the council’s caretaker management committee, Lamidi Waheed, Ayodele Mojeed Olatunde, Ajas Mutairu Gbadebo and Akanfe Idowu Sunday, as well as top official of the council.
