It is going to be very hard for parents to cope with the fallout from the turbulence on the fuel supply front. With the lack of investments in mass transit systems, the cost implications for parents will be dire.
Parents are better prepared! There should have been a continuation of the “SCHOLAR BUS” system that was pioneered in Nigeria in the 1950s. Great kudos must be given to the foresight of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for putting forward a scholar bus system in his second term as the Governor of Osun. The scheme was well received by the generality of the people and should have been continuously built upon and expanded for the benefit of the citizenry.

Abandoned by the Oyetola’s administration, incumbent Governor, Ademola Adeleke has very sensibly revived the scheme as “IMOLE DE BUS;” he must be commended for this.
In today’s situation of excruciating pain, we urge Governor Adeleke to deepen his investment in the scheme and also the homegrown feeding programme for schoolchildren, which was another much-lauded initiative of the Aregbesola years. The state has a central and decisive role to play in alleviating the current distress of the citizen, and schemes such as the aforementioned must now be put on the front burner.
