Edo 2024: Labour Party Begins Sale Of Nomination Forms Jan 25
Ahead of the September 24 governorship election in Edo State, the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Labour Party has approved the commencement of the sale and submission of expressions of interest and nomination forms from January 25 to February 11, 2024.
This contained in a communiqué sent out on Wedenesday by the national publicity secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh in Abuja, after the party’s NWC meeting.
Ifoh said that LP exempted female aspirants from paying for the expression of interest form only.
He said: “Arising from the meeting of the NWC of the Labour Party under the chairmanship of Julius Abure, the party’s leadership took a far-reaching decision on the Edo election.
“This is with regards to the guidelines for the conduct of congress and primaries to elect candidates for the Edo gubernatorial election.
“They include the NWC’s approval of sales of forms to all interested aspirants from the state who are Nigerians or residents in the state.
“NWC approved that the fees for expression of interest shall be five million naira only, while the nomination form shall be twenty-five million naira only.”
Ifoh added that the Committee approved indirect primary elections, wherein ward and local government congresses shall hold to elect the party’s flag bearers.
He disclosed that February 14 was approved for the screening of aspirants; February 22 for the primary election; and February 23 for the resolution of disputes or appeals arising from the primaries, if any.
