Edo Recovers 30 Vehicles From Obaseki’s Aides

The Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee has announced the retrieval of 30 government-owned vehicles from officials of the Godwin Obaseki administration, according to its chairman, Kelly Okungbowa.

This information was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Okungbowa credited whistleblowers for aiding the recoveries, stating, “We have recovered two Land Cruiser Jeeps and two Toyota Hilux vehicles from a former high-ranking official of the immediate past government.

“One of the vehicles contained campaign posters and umbrellas. Another Hilux vehicle was also recovered, bringing the total number of vehicles retrieved since our operation began to 30.

“We appeal to the public for more information to aid our operations. Whistleblowers have been instrumental to our success, and we are committed to rewarding anyone who provides helpful tips,” he said.

Okungbowa noted that the committee is prepared to travel nationwide to recover state-owned vehicles wherever they are found, saying.

He also recalled a previous recovery of three vehicles last Friday: one Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses, one of which contained rice intended for palliative distribution. “One of the buses was found to contain bags of rice meant for palliatives, which were reportedly intended for distribution to Edo residents.”

The chairman reiterated the committee’s dedication to ensuring all government assets are accounted for and returned to the state, stating, “We are committed to ensuring that all government assets are accounted for and returned to the state.”
