EFCC Arrests Former Anambra Governor Ngige In Abuja
Former Anambra State Governor and ex-Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has reportedly been arrested at his residence on Justice Mohammed Bello Road in Abuja.
Sources close to the former minister said he was picked up on Wednesday by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
An aide to Ngige dismissed earlier claims that he had been kidnapped, confirming that he is in EFCC custody as part of ongoing investigations.
No official statement has been issued yet by the EFCC or any relevant agency confirming the arrest or the specific allegations against him, as investigations are said to be ongoing.
The development comes only weeks after gunmen attacked a convoy belonging to Ngige in Anambra State.
A police officer was shot during the attack, while several others sustained injuries.
Ngige was not in the vehicle at the time, and no arrest has been made as of the time of filing this report.
