The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Egbedun has reacted to the arrest of 69 students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
In a now deleted statement by the EFCC on Wednesday, said the students were arrested on Wednesday in a midnight raid at Oduduwa Estate area of Ile-Ife, Osun State following actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in fraudulent internet-related activities.
However, the Students Union President of OAU, Abbas Akinremi in a statement signed by him confirmed that 59 students have been released.
In his reaction via a statement personally signed by him, the speaker condemned the arrest of the EFCC.
He, however, promised to do everything in his capacity to advance the interests of youths and protect their future.
