The Executive Secretary, Egbedore Local Government, Engr. Layi Abiola said his administration has drilled and commissioned four hand-pump boreholes for the use of the residents of Awo, Ara, Iragberi and Ojo towns of the local government.
This is just as he reaffirmed the determination of his administration to do all within its capacity to make life more bearable for the residents of the local government.
Speaking with journalists, he noted that his administration was motivated to embark on the projects as a result of barrage of requests for water provision by the people through members of the caretaker committee whom he mandated to find out the needs of their constituents.
According to a statement by the head of Information Unit of the council, Olayide Raji, the council boss assured that other towns and communities would be taken care of in due course when funds are available for the use of the council.
He equally promised to repair the faulty boreholes sunk by the previous administrations in the local government to ensure adequate supply of clean water to the people.
The executive secretary however implored the residents of the benefitting communities to develop the culture of maintenance of government projects in their domains and consider such infrastructural facilities as theirs.
This he said would encourage the government to do more, saying, his administration is a focused one and that explains why it was able to achieve the feat within a short time of his administration and with meagre financial resources available to it.
He explained that within the past months, his administration was able to buy a new computer set with a printer, repair a non-functioning photocopier, print identity cards for members of staff, refurbished the legislature’s bus and official cars for the use of the caretaker committee members and the council manager respectively.
