Egyptian FA Confident Salah Will Play In World Cup

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is expected to be fit to play for Egypt during the Russia 2018 World Cup campaign, his country’s FA have declared.

Salah injured his shoulder in a tangle with Sergio Ramos during Liverpool’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid on Saturday, and there were fears he would miss the World Cup.

According to Egypt’s national team doctor, the forward, who scored 44 goals for Liverpool last season, will be out for no more than three weeks.

Egypt’s opening World Cup match is against Uruguay on 15 June, just under three weeks away.

According to reports, Salah met the national team doctor and Egyptian FA president Hany Abu Rida in Spain on Wednesday.

The Egyptian FA tweeted afterwards: “After the meeting of Abu Rida and the doctor of the national team in Spain today, the Football Association reaffirms Salah in the World Cup, God willing, will not exceed the absence of three weeks.”

Egypt face hosts Russia on 19 June before coming up against Saudi Arabia on 25 June.
