After the observation of the Eid-el-Fitr holidays on Wednesday and Thursday as declared by the Federal Government, there was a low turnout of public workers in Osogbo, the State of Osun capital.
Our reporter went round major offices in Osogbo and noticed that despite the official resumption of work the turnout of workers in the state government offices visited was very low.
The same was observed at the Federal Government establishments visited, with some of the offices under lock and key.
Commercial activities however resumed, our reporter observed that shops, banks, and other private business ventures were opened but there was low patronage and turnout.
A civil servant (name withheld) who spoke with our reporter said most civil servants have traveled to the villages to celebrate with their friends and families and that with the timing of the holidays, it became difficult for most workers to return.
Public and private primary schools also opened, but most of the students were vividly absent.
