Osun State Police command has arraigned eight suspects before a Magistrate court in Osogbo over alleged stealing of cosmetics.
The accused persons were docked on October 17, 2018 on four count charges to which they pleaded not guilty.
They are, Saheed Opeyemi, 30, Abdul Wahab, 34, Odunniyi Ayomide, 21, Ogundeji Williams, 35, Afolabi Taiwo, 20, Blessing John, 29, Simiat Oladepo, 61, and Sade Tajudeen 36.
According to the charge sheet, the suspects stole the following items: 25 cartoons of Fumbat-A valued 2,250,500, five cartoons of Skineal tube valued N396,00, five Cartoons of Fevicide tube valued N180,000, 15 dozens of mega with kit valued N382,000, 20 cartons of Ebony relaxer valued N150,000, 25 cartons, Beka relaxer valued N162,000, 5 cartoons of Passion Jelly valued N47,000, 15 cartoons of Ozone Relaxer valued N48,000 totalling N3,636,500 properties of Ojetola.
The offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 390(9) (6) of the criminal code cap 34 Vol. II, Law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2013.
The charge sheet read in court disclosed that the suspects committed the offence in the month of April 2018 to sometimes in October 2018 at Oreofe Enterprise ventures Bishop street, Osogbo being the drives and sales representatives of the aforementioned ventures.
It added that the suspects conspired together to commit felony to wit stealing some cosmetics valued N3,636,500 property of Ojetola Sunday Oluwaseyi thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the criminal code cap 34 Vol. II, Law of Osun State of Nigeria 2013.
The charge sheet disclosed that Simiat Oladepo, sometimes in the year, at Igbonna Area Osogbo, did received one carton of Fumbat-A tube valued N87,000 knowing same to have been stolen or unlawful obtained and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 427 of criminal code cap. 34 Vol Il, Law of Osun State of Nigeria,2013.
The charge sheet also stated that Sade Tajudeen, sometimes in the month of August,2018 at Ifon received the following: half carton of fumbat-A tube valued N43,500, two cartons of Beka relaxer valued N11,500 and two cartons of Ozone relaxer valued N8,100, knowing same to have been stolen contrary to and punishable under section 427 of the criminal code cap 34 Vol Il, Law of Osun State of Nigeria 2013.
Counsel to the suspects pleaded with the court to admit the suspects to bail in the most liberal terms.
However, the Presiding Magistrate, A.O Ayilara, granted 7th and 8th accused persons bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each.
He also insisted that the counsel to the 1st to 6th accused persons should make a formal bail application.
The case was adjourned to December 12, 2018 for mention.
