Ekiti Govt Approves N15b For Road Reconstruction, N500m For Cooperatives
The Ekiti State Government has approved over N15 billion for the reconstruction of Ifaki/Esure/Ilomu/Eyio/Awo/Igede-Ekiti roads, the state government said at its tenth Executive Council meeting over the weekend.
Commissioner for Information, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, told journalists that the N15,181,751,398.54 approval reflects the administration’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure, easing vehicular movement, opening up communities, and boosting socio-economic activities.
The project, awarded to CCECC Nigeria Limited, is for full reconstruction and is expected to be completed within 24 months. Sixty percent of the contract sum will be released as mobilisation fee upon submission of an Advance Payment Guarantee (APG) or Insurance Bond, the commissioner said.
In addition, the government has approved N500 million to enhance the capacity, production, and sustainability of cooperative societies and unions across the state.
Hon. Olatunbosun said the fund aims to increase cooperative productivity, expand employment opportunities, and support small businesses and informal sector operators in Ekiti.
The interventions are part of the state government’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure and boost grassroots economic growth.
