El-Rufai Confirms Secret Coalition Meeting To Unseat Tinubu
Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai revealed that opposition leaders held a crucial meeting on Tuesday night to strategise on removing President Bola Tinubu from office in the 2027 election.
Speaking at the Arewa TechFest in Katsina on Wednesday, El-Rufai said the coalition is determined to ensure Tinubu returns to Lagos instead of securing re-election.
“Yesterday at 8:00 p.m., there was a very important meeting of the coalition we’re putting together to ensure that President Tinubu goes back to Lagos,” he said.
He added, “Though we will still keep Bosun Tijani. We will still keep the minister because he is doing good work.”
The former Kaduna governor’s break with Tinubu came after he was denied a ministerial appointment. Since defecting to the Social Democratic Party in March, El-Rufai has pledged to lead efforts to challenge Tinubu’s presidency in 2027.
