Electrician Dies After Falling From Ladder While Working In Hotel

Bright Okon, a 24-year-old electrician, has been officially pronounced deceased at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia. His passing occurred after he fell from a ladder while carrying out work at a well-known hotel in Umuahia.

The incident occurred around 12:30 pm on Thursday while the victim was conducting repair work in a specific area of the hotel.

It was reported that Okon, approximately 24 years old, slipped and struck his head on the floor, rendering him unconscious.

The hotel staff promptly rushed him to the Federal Medical Centre for urgent medical care. Regrettably, doctors later confirmed his passing.

Prior to his removal from the incident site, the hotel management reached out to the officers of the Central Police Station (CPS), who subsequently arrived at the scene.

Nevertheless, an alternate narrative regarding the artisan’s demise alleges that he was electrocuted while conducting repairs on the electrical installations within the hotel premises.

When contacted for reaction, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Abia State Police Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka confirmed the death of the artisan but did not give details about the matter.

She said that the management of the hotel where the artisan was working called the attention of Central Police Station, Umuahia, to inform them about the incident.

She noted that the scene was visited by policemen from the CPS while an investigation was ongoing.
