Elon Musk Threatens To Launch ‘America Party’ If Trump’s Spending Bill Passes
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has threatened to float a new political party in the United States if former President Donald Trump’s proposed “Big, Beautiful Bill” is passed by the Senate.
The bill, which centres on sweeping tax cuts, immigration reforms, defence spending, energy policy, and the debt ceiling, is a major pillar of Trump’s second-term agenda.
Musk, reacting via his social media platform X on Monday, criticised the legislation as an “insane spending bill” and warned that its passage would trigger the formation of what he called the America Party.
He wrote, “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.”
The Tesla CEO also lambasted lawmakers who previously campaigned on reducing government spending but are now backing what he described as the largest debt increase in US history.
“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame,” Musk added.
He further vowed that such lawmakers would lose their party primaries next year, even if “it is the last thing” he does.
This is not Musk’s first public clash with Trump over policy matters.
Their earlier exchanges this month were marked by heated social media confrontations.
