Eminent Jurist, Mamman Nasir Dies At 90

The northern axis of the country lost an illustrious son on Saturday.

Though, he served as President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mamman Nasir, was highly influential and he was seen more as a northern leader.

Highly respected and held in high esteem, the retired jurist who died at   90, had his name frequently mentioned in high places particularly during the military era.  

He was also an Islamic leader  and a rallying point for the Muslim ummah in the country.  

The elder statesman  who served as  Chairman,  Committee on Transition to Civil Rule under the late General Abacha military  regime, was also  the Chairman ,  Katsina State Development Fund, otherwise known as Gidauniyar Jihar Katsina .

He was also the district head of Malumfashi  and he, until his death , held the chieftaincy  title of ‘Galadiman Katsina’.

It was gathered that Justice Nasir breathed his last  at the Katsina Federal Medical Center following an undisclosed illness.
