OLALEKAN Oyeyemi, popularly called Emir, was re-arraigned on Wednesday on a 10-count charge of terrorism and murder at a Federal High Court, Osogbo, Osun State.
OSUN DEFENDER noted that Oyeyemi, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, had earlier been arraigned before the court on February 1 and was remanded at the Ile-Ife custodial facility.
But the prosecuting counsel, Rabiu Umar Usman, at the resumed sitting of the case on March 5, told the court that he wanted to amend the charge against Oyeyemi.
Oyeyemi, in the amended charge, was accused of terrorism and the murder of some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
He was accused of conspiring with other suspects at large to attack Muraina Olayiwole and Tope, who were members of APC, on or about February 27, 2022, at Orita CMS, Osogbo.
According to the charge sheet, Oyeyemi and other suspects at large, based on political differences, unlawfully killed Olayiwole and Tope by shooting them and later using stones to break their heads.
The prosecutor said Oyeyemi also committed an act of terrorism by arming himself with guns to terrorise members and supporters of the APC and other residents of Osogbo.
Also, Oyeyemi was alleged to have unlawfully killed one Tajuddeen Rabiu by shooting him in the presence of his wife on or about August 5, 2022, at Ayepe, Ilesa Garage, Osogbo.
The accused person was also accused of setting a car ablaze at Ayetoro junction, Osogbo, on or about November 28, 2022.
But Oyeyemi pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The defence counsel, Edmund Z. Biriomoni, applied for the bail of the accused person, but the prosecution counsel sought time to go through the bail application for a proper reply.
Justice Emmanuel Ayoola of the court adjourned the case till Tuesday, March 19, to rule on the bail application.
