It was a gale of encomiums as a colloquium held to mark the end of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s Tenure as Governor of the State of Osun.
The event tagged “OGBENI RAUF AREGBESOLA IN THE EYES OF HISTORY” was a forum to dissect the numerous achievements of the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola administration in the State of Osun.
In different presentations, Speakers at the colloquium, Dr Tunji Ogunyemi, a Budget Historian, Dr Owei Lakemfa a Labour Activist, Prof Mike Ikharile all lauded the contributions of the Rauf Aregbesola administration to the State of Osun.
They noted the appreciable impact of the numerous infrastructural, economic and human development strides of the outgoing dispensation urging the incoming administration to build on it.
The academics were of the view that the development of Osun must continue with laudable projects sustained and improved upon, while areas of concern especially the welfare of the citizenry must be taken into consideration.
In his keynote address, the Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu eulogised Aregbesola describing him as a man of his words and a thorough bred democrat.
Bagudu who narrated his experience with the outgoing Chief Executive saying Osun is blessed to have Rauf to pilot its affairs in the last 8 years.
The event saw the Presentation of two books, “Osun Government Unusual” compiled by the Policy and Economic Team, Office of the Governor and “Journey to Justice” written by Mr Gbenga Fayemiwo.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II who gave his encomiums with varying songs of tributes for the outgoing Governor Aregbesola urged him not to relent but support the new Governor for a successful tenure of office.
He urged him to always remember the state calling on Mr Gboyega Oyetola to emulate Aregbesola.
Expressing his gratitude to the people of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola said he is happy to leave a legacy of selfless service to humanity.
He called on parents to ensure due and proper attention in the monitoring of their children to justify the huge investment of government in the sector.
Aregbesola assured the gathering and the people of the state that Oyetola’s government will continue the course of development for the state of Osun.
