The Revolution now campaigner and right activist, Omoyele Sowore, has insisted that the planned protest to mark the End SARS anniversary will hold.
It will be recalled that in October 2020, youths across Nigeria trooped out in protest seeking an end to police brutality.
However, the protest turned violent as some thugs hijacked it resulting in the wanton destruction of lives and property across the country.
Some individuals are planning to embark on a protest on October 20th in commemoration of the first anniversary of the ENDSARS with the police warning that it will not allow any protest in that regard.
Sowore had insisted on holding EndSARS memorial protests on October 20th, 2021.
The activist noted that nobody had the right to suppress the will of Nigerians to repudiate the alleged atrocities of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
His posted, “To Police in Lagos and across Nigeria, there will be #EndSARS memorial protests and direct actions on October 20, 2021.
“Nobody can suppress the will of Nigerians to repudiate the mass atrocities of the Buhari’s regime on that day and beyond.”
Here in Osun, one of the leaders of the ENDSARS protesters (who chose not to be named) told Osun Defender reporter that the protest will take place in the state capital Osogbo to commemorate the ENDSARS protest.
He condemned those in the Osun Civil Society Movement planning to organize a discussion to commemorate the ENDSARS anniversary as bootlickers.
According to him, “the faces of those Osun Civil Society Movement members planning the discussion are the ones who sold out the Osun ENDSARS protest last year.
“We know them and their antecedents, they are bootlickers. We also know the state is bankrolling the so-called discussions they are planning, we are however not backing down, we will hit the street when it is time.
“The ENDSARS protest belongs to nobody, we will mobilize the people for the genuine commemoration of ENDSARS when it is time,” he added.
