Enough of Bigotry, OIC Is For National Development Not Islamization – NASFAT

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is for the development of member nations and not a body to promote Islamization.

This was the core of the message at the Eid prayers held at the NASFAT Mosque, Old Secretariat, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

At the prayers that had in attendance Former Governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the immediate past Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the sermon centered on the need for Nigerians to understand that the OIC is for National development.

The cleric charged the citizenry to rise above religious bigotry especially on issues on common national interest.

“ Former Head of state, Gen Yakubu Gowon during the military era took the Nigeria to the OIC for support and aid in trade, investment and development oriented issues”

“ Last year, Ebonyi state which is viewed by many to be predominantly Christian took an $80m interest free loan from the organization”.

Speaking further, the cleric urged the media to be nationalistic in its reportage of issues and shun the need to drive a religious divide amongst Nigerians.

While stressing that Nigeria has enjoyed in no small measure it’s membership of the OIC and charged religious leaders all across the country to shun bigotry and focus on nation building.uilding.
