Escaped Ilesa Prison Inmate Arrested in Lagos
A 39-year-old fugitive, Kabiru Oyedun, who escaped from the Ilesa Correctional Centre in Osun State, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force in Lagos.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that seven inmates escaped the correctional facility after a heavy downpour on Tuesday.
According to counter insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, Oyedun was apprehended on May 21 at about 5:35 p.m. in the Oshin-Welder area of Ayobo, a suburb of Lagos, following a tip-off from members of the public.
He noted that Police sources at the Zone 2 Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, said, “A team of police detectives was swiftly mobilised to the area and successfully apprehended the suspect without incident,” he said.

The sources added that the Lagos State Comptroller of Corrections has been contacted and is expected to take custody of the fugitive for onward transfer to the Osun State Correctional Service for further action.
Oyedun is believed to be one of the inmates who escaped during a recent jailbreak at the Ilesa facility.
