Former Nigerian Ambassador to Canada Chief Dare Bejide has unfolded his governorship ambition in Ekiti State.
Bejide, who is also a former Secretary to Ekiti State Government, (SSG) during the administration of Segun Oni, said in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, that he would be contesting the poll on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He described himself as the best candidate for the number one job, considering his intimidating credentials and exposure.
He said his many years of vast contributions to community development, in terms of projects planting across the nooks and crannies of the state, also stands him out from the crowd of those that had so far shown interest to contest the gubernatorial poll.
Bejide attributed the backwardness of some of the states in Nigeria to the inadequacies and ill-equipped nature of those at the helm of affairs, saying he hoped to bring his public sector experience to bear on governance in Ekiti State.
He said he would make a formal declaration in June this year while full blown campaign would follow immediately INEC lifts the embargo on campaigns.
Former Chief of Staff, (COS) during the administration of former governor Kayode Fayemi, Chief Yemi Adaramodu, at a separate briefing, says it was too early for him to be talking about the poll, which is still more than a year away from now.
He said the question as to whether he would contest in 2018 resided majorly on the people of the state and his political god-fathers
He said his major concern was to join others in ensuring that the peaceful atmosphere being enjoined by the people of the state is maintained.
