Ex-Governor Lamido Slams Seyi Tinubu’s Rice Distribution, Calls It Insult To Arewa
Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has criticised Seyi Tinubu’s recent distribution of cooked rice in northern Nigeria, describing it as an insult and humiliation to the region’s legacy.
Speaking in Hausa, Lamido condemned the act, questioning why the son of President Bola Tinubu was leading food handouts in Sokoto and Kano.
“This is total humiliation. Is this how to govern or promote good governance? What Tinubu is doing to the northern people is an insult.
Arewa, which produced great leaders like Aminu Kano, Sardauna (Sir Ahmadu Bello), Tafawa Balewa, and many others, is now being reduced to collecting cooked rice from the son of the president.”
He further stated, “We are people of pride and dignity. Our forefathers built this nation with integrity, and now we are being subjected to this? Is this what governance has become?”
Lamido also questioned why Seyi Tinubu was taking up roles that should be left to government officials.
“Why should Tinubu’s son be the one distributing food to Nigerians? Who is he in the government? What position does he hold? The entire world is watching and seeing what Nigeria has become.”
He argued that the northern region, known for its strong leadership, should not be reduced to a people dependent on handouts.
Lamido’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions, with some agreeing that the gesture was demeaning, while others believe any form of assistance should be welcomed in difficult times.
