Ex-Minster Uche Nnaji Arrested At Enugu Airport
The immediate past Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, was arrested on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport shortly after arriving from Enugu aboard a chartered flight.
Authoritative airport sources told PREMIUM TIMES that he is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for interrogation.
The anti-graft agency had been investigating the former minister over allegations that he forged his academic credentials.
According to the report, the investigation intensified after Nnaji resigned from office last year.
In June, a Federal High Court in Abuja reportedly ordered the ICPC to arrest him in connection with the alleged certificate forgery.
The court also granted the commission permission to declare him wanted through national newspapers, social media platforms and other media outlets.
The ICPC told the court that its ex parte application followed Nnaji’s repeated failure to honour invitations for questioning over the allegations.
The commission’s investigation reportedly found that the former minister submitted forged certificates purportedly issued by the University of Nigeria and the National Youth Service Corps.
The alleged forged documents were said to have been submitted to President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Senate during Nnaji’s ministerial confirmation process in 2023.
