Former House of Representatives member for Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, Hon. Solomon Maren, has suffered a major setback as his supporters rejected his move to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Maren, who had banked on his political base across Mangu and Bokkos LGAs to follow him, was shocked on Monday when his loyalists staged a rally in Mangu to declare their refusal to join him.

At the rally, the group under the banner “Mutfwang Phase Two Movement 2027,” led by Dauda Nathaniel Kyak, a former senior legislative aide to Maren, endorsed Governor Caleb Mutfwang for a second term and reaffirmed their loyalty to the PDP.

Kyak described Maren’s defection as “political suicide,” stressing that the move would lead to his total eclipse from Plateau politics.

The gathering, which brought together ward coordinators, political appointees and canvassers from both local governments, unanimously commended Governor Mutfwang’s performance in transforming rural and urban communities.

Kyak further hailed the supporters for their loyalty to the PDP, noting that Maren’s departure had “liberated them from political servitude” and given them the freedom to openly work for the governor’s re-election.
