Ex-Reps Chief Whip Ishaka Bawa Dumps PDP

Former Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Barrister Ishaka Bawa, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), blaming the worsening internal crisis for his exit.
In a resignation letter dated July 2, 2025, and addressed to the state chairman of the PDP, Bawa said he reached the decision after wide consultations with his family, political allies, ward, and constituents.
“I cannot continue to be on board while watching helplessly as the party sinks like the Titanic of 1912,” he declared.
Bawa, who once represented Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, did not disclose his next political move.
However, his resignation came barely a day after PDP State Chairman, Abubakar Bawa, warned that disciplinary measures awaited any member showing support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Sources close to the former lawmaker hinted he might be heading to the ADC.
Meanwhile, several prominent politicians in the state, including members of both the PDP and APC, are said to be considering defection to the ADC.
A party chieftain, who spoke anonymously, linked the realignment to the influence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
