A former president of the Redeemer’s University Students’ Association, Debo Adedayo, has apologised to the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Debo Adeyewa, over negative comments he made about the VC and the school management last year.
Recall that Adedayo was expelled by the varsity management a few weeks to his graduation for allegedly criticising the school in a post on social media. Adedayo dragged the institution to court but withdrew the case last week after both parties agreed to settle out of court.
it was gathered that gathered that RUN accepted his apology and the process to give him his certificate and mobilise him for the National Youth Service Corps ongoing.
The ex-student leader, in an exclusive interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, said he was sorry for any perceived derogation or lowering of the reputation of the Redeemer’s University in the public eye owing to an interview he granted SUNDAY PUNCH in October last year.
He said, “I wish to state that I do not hold the belief that whatever difficulties I encountered at the point of graduating from the Redeemer’s University stemmed from my being a Muslim or due to any other conflict on religious beliefs.
“I also wish to apologise sincerely to the Vice-Chancellor of the Redeemer’s University, Professor Debo Adeyewa, whom I continue to hold in high esteem, for any negative comments I might have made regarding his person in the media.
“I wish to state that the Redeemer’s University remains my alma mater, which I have nothing but love and respect for. I will always try my best to protect her image in the best possible light and carry myself in a manner befitting an alumnus of the institution.”
