Families Call For Help As DSS Arrests Lovers In Osun Community

There is growing tension in Modakeke, Osun State, following the alleged arrest of two lovers, Nurudeen Adesiyan and Kehinde Akintunde, by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The duo was reportedly apprehended in the early hours of November 29, 2024, at Arowosola Quarters, Ajape, leaving family members and residents in shock.

The families of the arrested lovers have raised the alarm over their continued detention and lack of communication since the incident.

According to Boyenle Adesiyan, the elder brother of Nurudeen, efforts to locate the pair have been futile as DSS officers have allegedly refused to disclose their whereabouts.

“My brother sent me a text around 5 am, informing me that security men were at our house, but I haven’t heard from him since then,” Boyenle told The Punch.

Recounting the incident, Boyenle stated that the DSS operatives arrived at their house with four vehicles and seized the phones of family members before demanding the identity of “Kehinde 2,” whose name appeared in the call log of their mother’s phone.

Unknown to the operatives, Kehinde, Nurudeen’s fiancée, was in the house at the time and was subsequently arrested alongside Nurudeen.

The situation escalated when the DSS officers reportedly led Kehinde’s family members to her residence, ransacked the property, and arrested everyone in the house. Gbenga Akintunde, Kehinde’s elder brother, alleged that the operatives beat up family members, seized their phones, and later released them at a community school, leaving only Kehinde and Nurudeen in their custody.

He added that attempts to get answers from the DSS office in Ile-Ife have yielded no results.

Efforts to confirm the operatives’ origin revealed that they were reportedly from the DSS national headquarters in Abuja.

A source within the DSS confirmed the operation but noted that it was not conducted by the Osun command.

Meanwhile, the families of the missing lovers have called on the general public and relevant authorities to intervene, urging the DSS to disclose the reasons for the arrest and ensure the safe return of Nurudeen and Kehinde.
