The family of Ayorinde AdeBello, a suspended pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has filed a petition against popular gossip blogger Gistlover, following allegations of homosexuality made against the pastor.

Osun Defender recalls that the blog had claimed that AdeBello engaged in same-sex relationships with young men in exchange for career opportunities, which quickly went viral and prompted the RCCG to suspend AdeBello and another pastor on October 28, 2024.

AdeBello firmly denied the claims, asserting, “I never engaged in sodomy with male teenagers.”

He explained that his initial silence was misinterpreted as an admission of guilt, leading him to formally respond to defend his character.

However, In a formal petition addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police at the FCID Alagbon in Lagos, AdeBello’s family refuted the blogger’s allegations, labeling them as baseless and damaging.

They argued that the claims have caused considerable emotional distress to the pastor and heightened concerns for his personal safety.

The family’s petition also questioned the credibility of the blogger’s evidence, which allegedly included excerpts from a WhatsApp group for teenage boys discussing general topics.

According to the family, these messages were “deliberately isolated and taken out of context” to paint a misleading picture.

“We believe these are fabricated stories without credible evidence,” the family’s statement read.

The petition urged the police to conduct a fair and thorough investigation, promising full cooperation.

The family expressed confidence in the innocence of AdeBello, stating, “We unequivocally reaffirm that Ayorinde AdeBello is innocent of these spurious allegations.”

They called on the authorities to respond swiftly to prevent further harm to AdeBello’s reputation and well-being.
