The Chairman of All Progressives Congress in the state of Osun, Prince Gboyega Famodun has congratulated members of the new state House of Assembly who are being sworn in today in Osogbo.
But the Chairman also challenged the Legislators “to continue the tradition of positive engagement with the executive branch of government in the best interest of good governance”.
In a statement from the party’s Secretariat circulated by its publicity director Barr Kunle Oyatomi to the media in Osogbo, Prince Famodun urged the lawmakers to “brace up for hard work, because the challenges ahead will stretch their abilities to the limits.”
According to the APC leader, “The success achieved in governance during the last eight years was significantly due to the pragmatic and harmonious working relationship between governor Rauf Aregbesola and the previous House of Assembly”
Prince Famodun reminded the House members that they have “the constitutional duties of oversight and lawmaking both of which require creative and mature interactive communication with various aspects of society as well as the executive.
“To be successful therefore, the lawmakers need concentration and devotion to duty”, the APC Chairman said.
He drew attention of the Legislators to the huge security challenges facing the country and reminded them that the state of Osun is not exempted. Therefore the Legislators “have to think outside the box” to proffer lasting solution.”
Prince Famodun advised that ” needless antagonism with the executive branch of government should be avoided at all costs by the new Assembly.
“You should always prefer dialogue with patience and understanding because these are critical elements in the process of resolving disagreements.”
The APC Chairman assured the Assembly members that the party is open and willing to offer whatever assistance it can give, for them to excel in their performance.
Finally, Prince Famodun stated that the party and people of the state wished the new House of Assembly “God’s speed and a successful tenure
