Nigerian artist Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, is under fire following an abrupt exit during his performance at the #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 in Lagos on Tuesday.
A viral video showed a fan climbing onto the stage in an attempt to approach the singer.
Security promptly intervened, removing the fan from the stage, but the incident caused Burna Boy to pause his performance.
Shortly afterward, he walked off stage without any explanation, leaving fans stunned. The unexpected departure sparked a wave of criticism on social media.
While some fans accused Burna Boy of arrogance and unprofessionalism, others defended him, pointing out that he had previously warned fans against stage invasions.
One X (Twitter) user, @ibrahimmalcolm remarked, “Just pride and arrogance, somewhat disrespect to the very audience he’s ‘performing’ for.”

Another user, @MeziaAbia wrote, “If not pride, what is it? Someone paid you for a show, and you left halfway because a fan jumped on stage?”
@Sapiosexual tweeted, “Guess just like that pastor, who walked off the pulpit because a phone rang, sometimes a little disruption is all it takes to hit ‘exit.’ Maybe it’s a trend now.
Others, however, supported the singer’s actions. @LoganSaman50828 commented, “He has warned repeatedly against stage jumping. Fans should respect boundaries.”
@_MrPreye added, “Stop jumping on stage. Respect yourself and the performer.”
As of now, Burna Boy has not addressed the controversy.
