Fashion: Contact Lens
A contact lens or simply contact is a thin lens placed directly on the surface of the eye. Some contact lens are considered medical devices and can be worn to correct vision, or for cosmetic or therapeutic reasons. People choose to wear contact lenses for many reasons but Aesthetics and cosmetics are the main motivating factors for people who want to avoid wearing glasses or to change the appearance of their eyes.
Others wear contact lenses for functional or optical reasons. When compared with spectacles, contact lenses typically provide better peripheral vision and do not collect moisture or perspiration into many different ways, by their primary function, material, wear schedule and replacement schedule.
Placing emphasis on cosmetic contact lens, these days some ladies not only go all the way to make their outfit outstanding, some go the extra miles to change their look thereby wearing cosmetic contact lens, which is designed to change the appearance of the eye, while some cosmetic lenses can have more direct medical application. For example, some contact lenses can restore the appearance and to some extent the function of a damaged or missing Iris.
Some ladies prefer wearing contact rather than wearing glasses because they want to show off their beautiful eyes and contact adds more beauty to it. A wide range of ladies in States like Abuja, Lagos, Portharcourt wear contacts, but very few are seen with contact lenses in the State of Osun. From my experience one of the major benefits of contact lenses is that they do not get in the way of everyday activities, especially sports and are very fashionable because wearing of contact lenses either coloured or not will change you entire facial look.
Some of the draw backs of contact lenses are:
They must be properly cleared: You must clean your contacts before and after use because without proper cleaning, contact lenses can result in serious eye infections and discomfort.
Do not sleep with contact: Sleeping when you are wearing your contacts can be very dangerous, as they reduce the amount of oxygen entering into your eyes. If you accidentally fall asleep with contacts in your eyes, it will dry up and you will be very irritated in the morning. Although, some contacts are designed to be worn over night, but this issue still exist, as every contact lense reduces the amount of oxygen reaching your eyes.
Although contact lens are very classy and makes you look more beautiful, if I was asked to be between eye glasses and contact lens, I believe I would stick to eye glasses. Now I am not referring to the contact lenses worn for medical purpose or the recommended eye glasses, I am simply talking about the sun shade and the cosmetic contacts.
Experience have shown that many would stick to eye glasses, as it makes them more comfortable, since they don’t have to go extra mile to clean it unlike contacts. Because the last thing one may want to do after a stressful day at work is to get home and start cleaning some contacts. This does not mean eye glasses are the right choice with some ladies.
