Father Of Four Commits Suicide Amid Family Dispute

A 58-year-old father of four, Omolayo Bamidele, has committed suicide in Igburowo town, located in the Odigbo council area of Ondo State, reportedly following a disagreement with family members.

It is alleged that Bamidele poisoned himself with a chemical substance believed to be Sniper.

Sources from the police indicate that family members have been summoned for questioning regarding the incident.

Before his death, Bamidele reportedly had a heated argument with a family member, during which he expressed his intention to end his life.

His body was later discovered on a road linking the community to a nearby farm settlement.

According to eyewitness accounts, the alarm about his death was raised around 10:30 a.m. by an elderly resident who spotted his lifeless body on the dusty road.

The deceased had left home early in the morning after the disagreement, walking several kilometers to the outskirts of the community before taking his own life.

No suicide note was found at the scene or on the deceased, although a container of Sniper was located behind his body.

Police detectives from the Ore area command responded to the report and took the body to the morgue at the Ondo State Specialist Hospital.

Despite the ongoing investigation, police spokesperson Funmi Odunlami confirmed that details regarding the circumstances leading to the suicide remain unclear, stating, “The police are aware of the report of suicide, but we do not have details of what led to it.”

She emphasized that the investigation aims to uncover the truth behind this tragic event.
