Father, Others In Court Over Attempt Ritual Murder Of Daughter

The Osun State Police Command has charged three men to court on Wednesday 21st March, 2018, over attempted ritual murder, unlawful possession of charms and obtaining by false pretence.

The accused persons include Isaac Ajao 40; Odesola Odedokun, 38 and Kazeem Ibrahim, 42 were arraigned on a four-count charge bothering on attempted murder and defrauding.

The police prosecutor, Insp. Mustapha Tajudeen told the court that the accused persons and others at large on 7th day of March 2018 at Ifon, conspired among themselves to attempt to kill one Mary Odedokun with the intention of using her for money ritual and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 320 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws if Osun state of Nigeria 2002.

Mustapha added that the second accused person, Odesola Odedokun was said to be the father of the victim, Mary Odedokun.

He further stated that the third accused person, Kazeem Ibrahim did by false pretence and with intent to defraud and obtain the sum of N34,000 from the first accused person, Isaac Ajao with the pretense of using same money for doubling ritual, a pretence which is an offence contrary to section 418 and punishable under section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun state of Nigeria 2002.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge slammed against them.

Counsel to the accused persons, R.A Ugwu urged the court to grant the accused persons bail.

The magistrate F.A Sodamade granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety each in like sum.

She said, each sureties must be a grade level 15 civil servants and must reside within the court jurisdiction and produce evidence of three year tax payments.

Sodamade further stated that the sureties must provide three-passports sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means, and the address of surety must be verified by the police.

She thereby adjourned the case till 30th of April for hearing.
