Kayode Fayemi, the Governor of Ekiti State met with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.
The meeting it was gathered revolved around the forthcoming APC governorship primary in Ekiti State and the 2023 Presidential poll.
Recall that Tinubu recently declared interest in contesting the party’s presidential ticket, while Fayemi is rumoured to also be interested in the contest.
According to credible sources, Fayemi had discussions with Tinubu over the latter’s Presidential ambition and the need to ensure that the South-West gets the APC Presidential ticket.
To this end, it was learned that the South-West APC may be endorsing one candidate to present a united front.
In the past, Fayemi has been accused in some quarters of undermining the aspiration of Tinubu while hobnobbing with the anti-Tinubu elements in the party including the APC Caretaker Committee Chairman led by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The Ekiti Governor had been also accused of victimizing Tinubu’s supporters under the aegis of the South West Agenda 2023 led by Senator Dayo Adeyeye and preventing them from holding processions in Ekiti.
He had also conducted a parallel congress of the APC in Ekiti State.
Also, in the forthcoming APC primary in Ekiti State, Fayemi is believed to be supporting the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Biodun Oyebanji, while Tinubu is supporting Senator Opeyemi Bamidele.
It is however yet to be seen how the two leaders will resolve differences.
