The Students’ Union, in a statement released on Wednesday, raised alarm over what it described as a “security breakdown” in student-populated areas of Ile-Ife, Osun State.
According to the union, no fewer than 30 cases of armed robbery have been recorded in just two weeks, with all victims being students of the institution.
“These are not isolated incidents. They are daily realities for our students. From stolen phones and wiped bank accounts to brutal physical attacks—our members are being traumatised and left to fend for themselves,” the statement read in part.

“This is highly unacceptable. We have done our part—reported every case, followed up diligently. But the system continues to fail us,” the union stated, accusing the authorities of negligence.
