There is palpable fear in the minds of members of the All Progressives Congress APC in Osogbo Local Government ahead of the emergency sitting of the Osun State House of Assembly over the controversial impeachment of the chairman of the LCDA, Hon Abdulhakeem Olaoye.
The emergency sitting convoked by the Speaker, Hon Timothy Owoeye is to address issues surrounding the development that has heated the polity in the last 48 hours.
Investigations by journalists in Osogbo metropolis on Thursday revealed that the announcement has unsettled the parliamentarians who insisted on going on with the impeachment which has been reversed by the parliament.
Reliable information from the camp of the council parliamentarians revealed that last minute moves to lobby the state lawmakers in favour of the impeachment are underway as fears of throwing out the decision of the 4 lawmakers of the LCDA by the state Assembly is imminent.
A concerned resident of Osogbo South LCDA who spoke to our reporter under condition of anonymity said “The decision by the Speaker, Hon Owoeye to call an emergency sitting of the house has unsettled the party leaders and parliamentarians behind the impeachment. As I speak to you, there are furious over the emergency sitting which might not be in their favour.”
“These desperate politicians have thugs that they had instructed to harass Hon Akeem Olaoye whenever he comes near to the office before the emergence sitting of the House of Assembly was announced today..”
“Our fear is that the desperate politicians are also capable of mobilizing thugs to the House of Assembly tomorrow, either to harass Hon Akeem Olaoye or disrupt the sitting of the lawmakers, and if that happens they will seize the opportunity to forcefully takeover the local government.”
“The desperate politicians have rolled out money for some idle youths to be attacking the Hon Speaker on social media for the emergency sitting. This suggests that they are capable of doing the unthinkable.”
The resident said “If the purported plan of the council parliamentarians go unchecked, it might result in anarchy as those involved are desperate to takeover the council area with full force.”
