Federal High Court Stops APC Congress In Ondo
- Orders Party to Halt Planned State Congress, Directs Parties to Maintain Status Quo
The Federal High Court sitting in Akure has restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from acknowledging, accepting, recognising or validating the Ward and Local Government Congresses allegedly conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.
Justice T.B. Adegoke granted the interim order on Monday while ruling on a motion ex-parte filed by aggrieved party members.
The suit, marked FHC/AK/CS/25/2016, was instituted by Lawrence Oladimeji Adebayo and seven others on behalf of 7,427 APC members allegedly excluded from the 2026 ward and local government congresses.
The applicants are challenging the Ward Congress of February 18, the Local Government Congress of February 21, and the planned State Congress slated for March 3, 2026.
The court restrained both INEC and the APC from further steps in the process and directed parties to maintain the status quo ante bellum pending hearing on March 26, 2026.
